A message from Tim O'Keefe:
In lieu of presents for my 70th birthday, I am asking for your support to help Nazar, a 21-year-old Ukrainian soldier, continue his recovery here in Australia.
A year ago, I met Nazar, who had been injured while defending Ukraine. Like my son Max, Nazar is 21, but his life was forever changed when Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. At just 18, he enlisted to protect his homeland, serving as a drone pilot with the 22nd Separate Mechanised Brigade. While defending the Donbas region, Nazar was injured in a drone strike near Bakhmut. In December 2023, he was awarded a medal for his role in liberating Klishiivka.
Nazar traveled to Australia in 2024 for limb reconstruction surgery and rehabilitation at Macquarie University Hospital. His journey has been long and difficult, but his determination to recover and return to his studies and homeland is inspiring.
The Goal: Support for Nazar’s Recovery
For my 70th birthday, I’m raising funds to support Nazar’s ongoing recovery. Future Ukraine has set up a fundraiser to raise $5,000 for his medical care, rehabilitation, and future treatments. Every donation—big or small—will directly contribute to his healing and help him return to his studies, family, and future.
Many of you met Nazar at the event hosted by Andrew Denton in Sydney, and I’m sure you’ll agree that his courage and determination are remarkable.
Please consider making a tax deductible donation to help Nazar heal and rebuild his life. Thank you for your generosity.
Warm regards,
Tim O'Keefe
