As was the case for countless young men and women in Ukraine, Nazar’s life was abruptly interrupted and changed forever when russia invaded his homeland.
At only 18 years old, Nazar enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect his family, his homeland and his way of life when the grim shadow of war and foreign occupation fell upon Ukraine.
Known by his callsign, ‘Kapa’, Nazar served as a drone pilot with the 22nd Separate Mechanised Brigade and defended Ukraine in the Donbas region. Nazar was injured in battle just south of Bakhmut when an enemy drone hit his trench.
In December 2023, Nazar was awarded a medal for his valiant role in the liberation of Klishiivka, Donetsk Oblast.
His first time stepping foot out of Ukraine, Nazar travelled from Ukraine to Moldova to Turkey to the UAE, finally to the other side of the world - Australia - to undergo limb reconstruction surgery and rehabilitation at Macquarie University Hospital.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to cover the costs of his rehabilitation. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and will directly contribute to enabling Nazar to return healthy and healed to his family, his friends, his comrades, his studies, and his homeland.
